Director Mi Jie of Academic Affairs’ Office, Director Zhang Jian of Office for Scientific Research, Executive Vice Dean Wang Xingfen of Postgraduate School, and Director Xie Xinwei of Human Resources Office respectively introduce objectives, major missions, and relating measures to taken regarding the 14th Five Year Plan at the University in respect of talent cultivation, scientific development, academic discipline construction, and staff development. Particularly, they have also discussed and explained the basis on which indexes are made and the feasibility of achieving objectives. Meanwhile, the Conference also explores issues regarding scale control, adjustment of academic specialties, classified education for undergraduate students, competition for academic subjects, innovation-driven development, and establishment of quantitative indexes.  

Wang Yongsheng points out that the spirit of the fifth Plenary Session of the 19th National Congress of the Party shall be fully implemented in making the 14th Five Year Plan of the University. The requirement of “keeping a foothold in the new phase of development, implementing the new principle of development, and building a new pattern of development” shall be firmly followed. Attention shall be paid to code of morality for education, national development, and development of Beijing. With regard to specific issues, a timeline shall be designed based on macrostructure with close links with our current orientation of building a high level university of applied learning as well as the long-term goal of building a high level university with distinctive features in information technology. We shall face squarely current problems and bottlenecks, clarify our goal of development, and scientifically design our planning for the 14th Five Year Plan. Wang Yongsheng also raises requests for other issues including talent cultivation, academic research, academic discipline construction, and staff development.
