Beijing, 8th September 2023 (BISTU)--- BISTU Commendation Meeting for Teachers’ Day successfully completed on 8th September 2023 to celebrate the 39th Teachers’ Day of China and to commend individuals and teams who have made outstanding achievements. The Meeting, chaired by Deputy Secretary Yu Shijie of CPC BISTU Committee, was addressed by Secretary Xie Jiangling of CPC BISTU Committee and President Guo Fu.  

The commendation meeting commenced with a video clip on latest progresses of the University and national anthem-singing ceremony.  

Xie Jiangling addressed the commendation meeting. On behalf of the University, he extended warmest greetings to all faculties and staff and paid tribute to all prize-winning individuals and teams. Xie Jiangling pointed out that BISTU faculties and staff, holding noble professional ethics and rigorous educational philosophy, have been devoting to their duty and have won the respect and trust of students and our society. He stressed that faculties and staff were important forces of the University in gaining progresses and would provide powerful support with our objective of building a high level university with distinctive feature in information technology.  

Xie Jiangling discussed issues concerning further improvement of faculty qualities and expected that faculties and staff of the University, in the first place, should think in a big picture and be patriotic to courageously shoulder the key historical missions of the Party and of the nation. Xie Jiangling pointed out that we were to follow Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in education and the fundamental principle of fostering virtue through education. We were to lay emphasis on the top priorities of the country in every aspect of our work.  

Second, we were to further enhance our confidence with history, strive to innovate, and pursue excellence. Xie Jiangling stressed that the fine tradition of BISTUers in thinking ahead and pioneering forward should be carried forward. We were to meet the demand upon ourselves to achieve high quality development for the University and to pursue excellence.  

Third, act as an exemplary person and work as a role model for students. Xie Jiangling encouraged faculties and staff to learn from the great and profound traditional Chinese culture, revolutionary culture, and BISTU culture and apply what they learn to teaching and education. All faculties should lay stresses on benevolence and integrity, professional competence, and patriotic spirit of students and become teachers who one who could propagate the doctrine, impart professional knowledge, and resolve doubts． 

The commendation meeting contained three sections, i.e., role models of BISTU, sense of responsibility at BISTU, and dedication and devotion to BISTU. Senior administrators presented awards to individual and team winners.  

Secretary Xie Jiangling presented awards to winners of state-level awards. 

President Guo Fu presented awards to winners of ideological and political education awards.  

Deputy Secretary Yu Shijie and Deputy Secretary Wang Wenjie presented awards for winners of educational excellence. 

Vice President Fang Deying presented awards to winners of sci-tech innovation. 

Secretary Xin Hongguang of Discipline Inspection Committee of CPC BISTU Committee presented awards to winners of management and service awards. 

Vice President Chen Xin presented awards to winners of outstanding organizing awards for BISTU’s 85th anniversary celebrations.  

Vice President Ye Xiangzhong presented awards to team winners of combating covid-19 pandemic. 

Vice President Wang Xingfen presented awards to team winners of campus construction.  

Vice President Xiao Zhisong presented awards to winners of “I am with BISTU” story-sharing event.  

Secretary Xie Jiangling of CPC BISTU Committee and President Guo Fu presented certificates of honor to faculties and staff who have worked for 30 years or more. 

As the representative of faculties, Prof. Sun Jianghong of of School of Electromechanical Engineering shared his experience in the past 27 years. Witnessing rapid development and huge changes of the University, Sun Jianghong expressed that faculties would have profound influence on students. All teachers should be dedicated to cultivating patriotic builders and successors of socialist cause with independent personality, spiritual freedom, and innovative awareness. Teaching content and methodology should be constantly innovated to holistically improve comprehensive qualities of students. Sun Jianghong also called all faculties and staff to unite together and strive for building an even better BISTU.  

Sincere blessings and gratitude towards faculties were also conveyed via poet recitation “Ode to Teachers” performed by six students and “Big Tree”, a song performed by 8 teachers.  

The meeting was attended by all senior administrators, secretaries and deans of all BISTU schools, directors and deputy directors of BISTU divisions and offices, winners of awards, and representatives of students.
