Beijing, 18th May, 2017 (BISTU)--- On the 9^th anniversary of BISTU, the University holds grand awarding ceremony for people of diligence and honor to implement spirit of national conference on ideological construction in higher educational institutions, grand awards to excellent faculties and students, establish models of learning and teaching, and advocate the University motto “diligence in learning and honor for life”. The awarding ceremony is hosted by Vice President Liu Xiaoyi and attended by all senior administration of BISTU, nominees of the award, steering committee members, deans and directors of schools and divisions, representatives of faculties and students, alumni representatives and reporters.  　　  

On behalf of the University, Chairman Wang Chuanliang extends most sincere congratulations to award winners. He points out that it is a major event of BISTU cultural construction to conduct granting awards to people (team) of diligence and honor. It is a process of converging emotions and strengths as well as a process of improving campus culture and construction of emotional environment. He hopes that all faculties and students take people of diligence and honor as their examples to follow. In view of outstanding achievements and contributions of people of diligence and honor, faculties shall become excellent teachers with firm beliefs, good virtues, profound knowledge and deep love of their students so as to contribute more to education. Students shall work even harder and connect individual ideal with development and future of the nation. They are to go through toughness and become quality successors of the country. Wang Chuanliang also hopes that alumni actively contribute to BISTU and their advice is highly appreciated. All faculties and students shall take this precious opportunity and seriously learn and implement spirit of national conference on ideological construction in higher educational institutions. It is important for the university to continue construction of emotional environment and build up sound, good campus culture so as to offer strong spiritual support with leap-development of the university as well as construction of a high level university with distinctive features in information technology.   

The awarding ceremony has four sections, i.e., self-reliance and independence, work and play, strong team, and achievements with virtues. Videos, addresses and songs are employed to tell moving stories of people of diligence and honor. Senior administration of the University presents awards. Students and faculties attending the ceremony express that achievements of people of diligence and honor reflect BISTU spirit and are full of positive energy. They symbolize the culture of diligence and honor.    

The first session of public appraisal of people of diligence and honor, themed on “record of experienced, touching stories, convergence of strengths and building of dreams”, initiates in April 2016 through December 2016. It is extensively attended by BISTU students and faculties and 19 people and teams are final nominees on the list. The winners are Zhang Fuxue, Xu Xiaoli, Zhang Qizhi, Wang Dengshan, Zhang Jingdong, Zhao Nanqian,  Feilai, Beijing Knowledge Management Base, Water Robot Football, and Division of Employment and Recruitment.
