Business School
The Business School of Beijing Information Science and Technology University has a history that can be traced back to the Beiping Municipal Senior Commercial Vocational School in 1937. Its predecessor, the former School of Economics and Management, was established by integrating the Business Administration Branch of the former Beijing Machinery Industry College, the Business Administration Department, and the Economic and Trade Department of the former Beijing Information Engineering College. In 2024, in accordance with the development concept and school-running philosophy of "constructing colleges around disciplines and operating universities around disciplines", the school optimized the business discipline layout and officially founded the Business School. Over the past 87 years of its educational journey, the Business School has developed in tandem with the university and advanced with the times. It has endured hardships and constantly strived for self-improvement, adhered to its original aspiration, and moved forward steadily, making significant contributions to the economic and social development of the nation and the capital.
The guiding role of Party building has become even more prominent. The school firmly implements the general guideline of the university's Party committee, which is to "enhance the external image, gather internal strength, accelerate development, and serve teachers and students". It adheres to the Party's leadership throughout all processes and aspects of school governance and teaching, actively integrates into the new development patterns of the country, the capital, and the university, continuously reinforces the information and industry characteristics of business disciplines, fully undertakes the fundamental task of cultivating morality and nurturing talent, solidly promotes the construction of the "diligent, practical, trustworthy, and action-oriented" work style, focuses on creating an academic culture that features "caring for students, respecting teachers, advocating academics, and making democratic decisions", and leads high-quality development with high-quality Party building. In recent years, it has been successively recognized as an advanced Party organization among Beijing universities and an advanced collective in moral education work in Beijing universities. The second Party branch of financial management has been established as a "national model Party branch in Party building work".
The discipline and major layout has been continuously refined. It encompasses two major discipline categories, namely management and economics, and holds the authorization to confer master's degrees in two first-level disciplines, namely business administration and applied economics, as well as two professional master's degrees, namely Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc). Currently, there are seven undergraduate majors, including financial management, accounting, auditing (computer auditing), business administration, human resource management, economics, and digital economy. Among them, three majors, namely financial management, human resource management, and business administration, are national first-class majors, auditing is a first-class major in Beijing municipality, and the accounting major offers an intelligent accounting Qinxin experimental class. Relying on the information characteristics of the school, it continuously promotes intelligent integration and digital transformation, and has initially established a new business discipline cluster.
The quality of talent cultivation has been continuously enhanced. It actively combines new technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data with disciplines such as business administration and economics, and focuses on nurturing high-quality applied innovative talents with strong practical capabilities, innovative awareness, and international perspectives. In recent years, it has been awarded 4 Beijing municipal teaching achievement prizes, been approved for 1 national first-class course, 3 Ministry of Education industry-university cooperation collaborative education projects, 1 Beijing municipal excellent course, 3 high-quality courses, 1 high-quality courseware, and 1 university employment and entrepreneurship golden course. It has 5 laboratories and 1 innovation base, and the experimental teaching center has been accredited as a Beijing municipal experimental teaching demonstration center. In the past three years, students have won over 150 discipline competition awards at or above the provincial and ministerial level. Graduates mainly find employment in financial institutions, state-owned banks, renowned firms, and other enterprises and institutions in and outside Beijing. Their salaries rank firmly within the top 40 of similar disciplines and majors in national universities and are highly regarded by employers. A group of graduates have been admitted to well-known domestic and foreign universities for further studies. Currently, there are 1,773 undergraduate students and 307 postgraduate students.
The structure of the teaching faculty has been effectively optimized. Currently, there are 109 full-time teachers, among whom 20 are professors and 54 are associate professors, 4 are doctoral supervisors and 54 are master's supervisors, and 78% of them hold a doctorate degree. It has 1 national first-class course teaching team, 1 Beijing excellent teaching team, 1 Beijing outstanding young talent team, 1 academic innovation team of the Beijing Talent Strengthening School Plan, and 1 advanced collective of the Capital Education Pioneers. It has received over 30 person-times of municipal talent titles such as Beijing outstanding talent, Beijing outstanding young talent, Beijing curriculum ideological and political teaching master, Beijing young and middle-aged backbone teacher, and Beijing young science and technology support talent. It also has various industry experts, including the vice president of the Chinese Association of Quantitative Economics, members of the National Technical Committee for Labor Quotas and Standards, Chinese certified public accountants, Chinese certified tax agents, national registered auditors, national senior vocational instructors, and asset appraisers.
The scientific and technological innovation capacity has been continuously strengthened. It has 6 university-level scientific research institutions, namely the Beijing Knowledge Management Research Base, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Research Center, the Digital Economy and Management Research Center, the Research Center for Urban Sustainable Development and Service Quality Construction, the Institute of Informatization and Rural Revitalization Development, the Institute of Intelligent Services, and the China Public Employment Service Research Center. In recent years, it has undertaken a large number of basic research projects, including national key research and development plan projects, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Beijing Natural Science Foundation, and the key projects of the Beijing Social Science Foundation, as well as major scientific research tasks commissioned by enterprises and institutions. The project achievements have won 1 National Science and Technology Progress Award as the first completion unit, 3 second and third prizes of the Beijing Science and Technology Award, 4 second prizes of the Beijing Philosophy and Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Award, 1 first prize of the Beijing Education and Teaching (Higher Education) Outstanding Achievement Award, and 6 national industry science and technology awards. More than 20 papers have been published in Nature sub-journals and the top-tier journals of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Division I, and many think tank suggestions have been adopted by the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government.
External cooperation and exchanges have been steadily advanced. It actively promotes industry-university cooperation and collaborative education and has jointly established over 30 off-campus practice bases with leading enterprises. It has carried out cooperation and exchanges with dozens of renowned universities such as University College Cork in Ireland, George Mason University in the United States, the University of Wisconsin - Parkside in the United States, the University of California, Riverside in the United States, and Bowling Green State University in the United States, and has set up more than 30 exchange, joint training, and degree programs in various forms such as short-term, 2 + 2, 3 + 1 + 1, etc., which comprehensively cover undergraduate and postgraduate students and effectively enhance the internationalization level of school-running.
New school, new journey, new development. Under the strong leadership of the university's Party committee, the school adheres to the vision and mission of "integrating information characteristics, gathering new management knowledge, cultivating business talents, and promoting social development" and spares no effort to build a renowned technology business school with distinctive information features.
