College of Applied Science

The College of Applied Science has four undergraduate programs: Information and Computing Science, Electronic Information Science and Technology, Statistics, Mathematical and Physical Experimental Class. The School’s 1st level disciplines conferring master degrees are Mathematics and Electronic Science & Technology. Its 2nd level disciplines conferring master degrees are Applied Mathematics, Fundamental Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, Probability and Mathematical Statistics and Microelectronics & Solid State Electronics. The College’s research institutes include the Research Center of Sensor Technology (Sensor Laboratory), the Lab of Applied Mathematics, and the Institute for Mathematical Physics. The Sensor Laboratory of the College is a Key Lab of Beijing Municipality.

The College has a faculty of 95, of which 14 are full professors, 26 are associate professors and 47% have Ph. D. degrees. The College’s teaching team contains celebrated scholars with high academic attainments and research achievements. The College boasts 1 National Excellent Teaching Group, 1 Excellent Teaching Group of Beijing Municipality, 1 Academic Innovation Group of Colleges of Beijing, 1 National Model Laborer, 1 Famous Teacher of Beijing, 1 New Century Talent of Ministry of Education, 2 Moral Model Teachers of Beijing and 2 Excellent Talents of Beijing.

BISTU has launched a “Mathematical and Physical Experimental Class” Program which follows the mode of “2+2” education. In the first two years, the administration and instruction of the program is undertaken by College of Applied Science where students receive general education and lay a solid foundation of science. In their junior year, students of the experimental class can choose their own undergraduate major from all the programs BISTU offers.
